The company has a line that’s made in USA, as well as a line of products manufactured oversees, although Northwest Outlet features exclusively their American-made knives. These are not your average small pocket knives that you can buy at the local hardware store or bait shop for cheap, Buck knives are a legacy.

Buck knives were among the most revered and respected of all brands on the market. In fact, the name “buck” was synonymous with knives in general, especially hunting style and folding pocket knives. The first Buck knife was produced in 1902 by Hoyt Buck, who at the time was a young Kansas blacksmith, looking for a way to better temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. All of his knives were made by hand, using worn-out file blades as the raw material for the blade. As he perfected his craft, he got lot of appreciation for his work, especially during the World War II era. Hoyt and his family eventually set up shop in 1947 under the name “H.H. Buck & Son” in San Diego, California.
The business continued to grow and in 1961 it became known as “Buck Knives Incorporated”. Shortly thereafter, in 1954, the knife industry was revolutionized with the introduction of a folding lock blade and a model 110 Folding Hunter, making Buck knives an undisputed leader in the field. At the time it was the only one folding lock-back knife that one could truly depend on.

For many generations Buck knives were the standard by which all others were judged, as well as the prototype which countless other manufacturers shamelessly copied. The iconic model 110 folder was considered “the king of the pocket knives”. It was a quintessential piece in the collection of anyone who takes pride in their cutlery. A buck models 119 or 120 fixed blade were a part of many serious outdoorsmen’s gear.
While many of the legendary fixed-blades produced over the years are not full tang construction design, they are still very much recommended for more general purpose hunting and camping use. More recently though, the company has been producing fantastic full tang construction knives that we highly recommend.
