A snowshoe is a bit like a bicycle: there are different kinds for different purposes. It is important to choose the right snows shoes for your needs. At Nortwest Outlet we offer styles that work for most situations – work, off-trail, packed snow conditions, training and more. Find all the gear you need for a wide range of winter activities, including trail walking, hiking, backcountry exploring and even running.

There are two main types of snowshoe frames – aluminum and composite(plastic). Composite tends to be more compact and better for packed snow or icy conditions, while aluminum-framed shoes tend to float better in deep powder.  For plastic, or molded shoes there are tails that can be attached to assist in floating.

Kids Snowshoes – From Toddlers to Teens

Snowshoes for kids are durable and easy to use, and above all, comfortable. Finding the length that’s appropriate for the size of your child, plus the best binding, traction, and intended usage for your needs is the key to happy snowshoeing. We find that molded showshoes are a better option for young ones, as these are typically lighter weight than aluminum frames, so your kids should find them super easy to use out on the trail.
