It all started with a Tents & Awnings workshop, founded way back in 1895 in Binghamton, New York, producing tents, awnings, horse blankets and wagon covers. The company used early manufacturing processes, and they were one of the first companies to make American flags using big presses and dies to cut the stars used in the flag. The material of choice for any shelter back in the day was untreated white army duck, and the one that stands in the Eureka headquartes is made out of the same material. In the 1940s Eureka began making big party tents for fairs and other special occasions.

During World War II, they made military tents for the allied forces. Most of these were hospital tents, field hospitals, barracks and mess halls. Since WWII, Eureka Tents kept making tents for the Army, up to Army standards. Eureka's large military canvas tents were used in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the 1950s, Eureka also became a big manufacturer of canvases and textiles, and during the 1960s, they began making tents for the outdoors camping industry. The new, lightweight cotton tents were much better suited for campers than the old, heavy-duty army ones. One of the most popular products today are the Timberline and Midori tent line which are used by lightweight backpackers and campers alike.

Best Eureka Tents, Outlet Prices

Eureka had a fantastic history with Mt. Everest climbers and extreme weather mountaineers, as they made great tents that can handle the worst conditions and gifted these arctic tents to several expeditions. This catapulted Eureka's image as the small, sturdy camping gear manufacturer, a full re-branding of their old military, textile industry and frontier roots. Nowadays, 90% of their company's sales are the humble backpacking tents used by hikers and campers around the country. You can order Eureka Tents online at Northwest Outlet, and get them shipped to your location in no time.
