How does FRC work?

Most FR clothing has been designed to protect workers from two specific types of hazards: flash fire and electric arc flash. Because of the specially designed fabrics used and the manufacturing process, flame-resistant clothing resists ignition and has self-extinguishing properties. It will catch fire if exposed to open flame, but it will not continue to burn once the source of combustion is removed. It also provides thermal insulation to protect from heat and resists breaking open, protecting skin from hazards. FR clothing does not contain any components that can conduct heat or electric current to the skin, or melt onto the skin, so it protects you from getting burned.

What’s the difference between flame-resistant and flame-retardant clothes?

The main difference between these two is the material they are made of. Flame resistant garments are made of fabric that is resistant to flames and embers. These fabrics and material have a chemical structure that is naturally resistant to flames. Fire retardant fabrics have been chemically treated to acquire some of the same properties and the ability to self-extinguish. The choice depends on your unique job requirements.
